Hydrosave colleagues win ‘our best safety leader’ award

This year, we held our second Group Health and Safety conference.

The day was led by Richard Brookes, South Staffordshire Plc’s Group Head of Health and Safety.

The day was an opportunity for some of the front line teams from across our Group businesses to join our Group Executive to discuss safety leadership, learning better together and celebrating excellence and successes.

As part of the celebration, several awards were presented. Chris Hughes, Senior Valve Engineer at Hydrosave, was presented with the award for ‘Our best safety leader’.

Chris leads a team across the UK and managing critical risk is a daily challenge. Confined spaces, pressurised systems and working at height are examples of some the hazards that he and his team must manage.

Chris understands that to be successful in managing these hazards you need robust systems that set people up for success. He is detailed about ensuring that equipment is tested and calibrated in these critical risk areas. He also understands that he needs his team to be equally passionate about ensuring they are set for success. He regularly drives day to day standards. Doing the fundamentals well every day demonstrates a clear leader-led standard to keeping people safe and servicing our customers.
